The mausoleum of Prince Liang Zhuangwang (d. 1441) is located outside Zhongxiang city, Hubei province. The prince was the last ruler over the state of Liang, of which Zhongxiang was a part, during the Ming dynasty. The Liang Zhuangwang mausoleum was formally excavated in 2001 and is now considered a major cultural heritage site.
These two volumes provide a thorough, well-organized record of the excavation findings at the Liang Zhuangwang mausoleum. Volume 1 includes information on the surrounding environment, excavation process, and reporting of findings, as well as details regarding each part of the mausoleum and the many items unearthed there. Also in Volume 1 are over 250 black-and-white illustrations, maps, diagrams and rubbings, as well as several tables and appendices. Volume 2 consists of over 200 color plates depicting the mausoleum and the rich collection of items found there, which not only are of historic value but also represent a high artistic standard.
