This exhibition catalogue includes 20 works of art on decorative pressed paper from the Song Dynasty, and the subject has never before been explored or presented. Decorated paper generally refers to letter paper that has been specially prepared to give it decoration, and the technique for this type of paper involves carving a design into the press, yielding a pattern in low hollow relief after use.
With the aid of special photographic techniques and image processing, this special exhibition allows audiences to see the wonders of high-quality Song impressed paper that fits perfectly into the classical cultural and period aesthetics of the Song. Most of the selected items are calligraphies but some paintings are also included.
